Schools have built their capacities to prepare more students at the graduate level who can undertake the functions needed in advanced practice, teaching, and research as a way of increasing the number of BSN-educated nurses (Jasper, Rosser, & Mooney, 2013).
The Institute of Medicine has led to the development of a more advanced evidence-based practice that has generated an unprecedented demand for the information related to scientific breakthroughs and better practices by the nursing fraternity. Collaboration and partnership have also been emphasized an essential strategy that can be incorporated with well-educated nurses. The nursing culture has apparently evolved in a more professional and fun entity because of the way the field of nursing consists of major courses for one to be regarded as a fully attained nurse (Committee on the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Initiative on the Future of Nursing, 2011). Significantly, the Institute of Medicine has evolved the study of nursing in a better and theoretical model that has led to the improved nursing strategies in the health care sector as a whole.
The Impact of the Institute of Medicine on Nursing practice, Particularly in Primary Care and how I would Change My Practice to Meet the Targets of the IOM report
The impact of the Institute of Medicine on nursing practice, especially the primary care, has been tremendous because of the positive results that are being attained. It is true since the health care industry has expanded the role of nurses so that they could attend to the vast number of patients. The approach has been made effective since primary care and prevention are central drivers of the health care system. The IOM has led to the modification of the role of nurses within the context of the whole workforce in the primary care. The primary care has witnessed issues associated with the expansion of the nursing faculty and an increase in the capacity of nursing schools. The approach has been made help primary care nurses adequately attend to their patients with ease and efficiently (Jasper et al., 2013). Thus, the IOM report of 2010 has enabled the primary care field to be assured of producing an adequate number of well-trained nurses for them to meet the needed demand for healthcare as a whole.
The Institute of Medicine report 2010 has generated positive results in primary care because it attracts and retains well-mentored nurses in multiple care settings. Furthermore, now, nurses in primary care are in a better position to address the increasing demand for safe and efficient health care services. To meet the targets of the Institute of Medicine report of 2010, I will enroll for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a diploma in Nursing as a way of expounding my know-how in nursing (Jasper et al., 2013). The approach is significant, as it will relate my skills and experience with what the current field of nursing demands from its employees. Fundamentally, I will be able to help the patients in the primary care with ease and professionalism.
The Outcome of the Institute of Medicine Report 2010 on the Nurse’s Role as a Leader
The outcome of the Institute of Medicine report on nurses’ function as administrators has been tremendous in a positive way. As healthcare managers, nurses are required to have knowledge of process improvement, ethics, and management so they ought to be in the position to translate research into practice. Nurse Managers are expected to undertake their learning and preparation to stamp out their relevance as leaders in nursing. Additionally, they must be at the forefront of the health care improvement by leading in quality initiatives meant to rejuvenate the nursing field (Korniewicz, 2015). To relate with members of the interdisciplinary care teams, they must refer to clinical practice and offer solutions to challenges affecting nursing and health care as a whole.
The Institute of Medicine has emphasized the relevance of attaining more education for nurse leaders, which is an indication that the modern nurse leader is more educated, skilled, and experienced. Significantly, nurse leaders are expected to behave in a professional and competent manner to earn respect from their subordinate employees and patients. A nurse leader is also expected to portray the significance teamwork as a mode of ensuring proper health articulation. It is true because leadership is not an easy task, but having attained several degrees calls for a more mature and experienced way of administration (Korniewicz, 2015). Thus, the IOM report’s impact on the role of a nurse as a leader has generated positive results because nursing services are instigated in a better and professionalized way.

It is true because the field of nursing is more modified, especially in the education sector. The education sector has been expanded to accommodate the increasing number of patients in the health care sector and for the better service delivery purposes. The presence of having more education expertise in nursing has been incorporated to ascertain the relevance of nursing as a whole.

Furthermore, the strategies of teamwork and corporation are being utilized in nursing because of the expanded education to generate better nursing qualities. Thus, the Institute of Medicine has produced positive results in nursing based on a modernized point of view.
